35+ farmers’ markets in Eastern Ontario and West Quebec

If your idea of the perfect summer outing is a morning spent sniffing strawberries, sampling gluten-free cookies and chatting up farmers about the best ways to cook beets, you’re probably pretty familiar with your local farmers’ market. But if you’d like to shake up your weekly routine a bit, here are more than 35 farmers’ markets to check out within an easy drive of Ottawa (some are inside the city itself). But be forewarned: You may acquire some new tastes that will require regular road trips to satisfy!

  • Alexandria: Alexandria Island Park, Saturdays, May 27 to early October, 8:30am to 1pm.
  • Almonte: Parking lot of the public library, Saturdays, May to early October, 8:30am to 12:30pm.

  • Chesterville: Waterfront, Saturdays, May 20 to October 7, 9am to 2pm.

  • Ottawa (Ottawa Farmers’ Market): Lansdowne Park, 1015 Bank Street, year-round; Sundays, summer hours (May 7 to November 5), 9am to 3pm; check website for hours at other times of year.
  • Ottawa (Main Farmers’ Market): 210 Main Street, Saturdays, May to October, 9am to 2pm.
  • Ottawa (Organic Farmers’ Market): 1644 Bank Street (Canadian Tire parking lot, near Bank and Heron), Saturdays, 50 weeks a year, 10am to 2pm.
  • Ottawa (Parkdale Market): Parkdale Avenue between Wellington and Armstrong streets), daily, April 28 to November 3, 6am to 6pm; also a Christmas Market (check website for details).

      I think the one on Centrum Boulevard isn’t running anymore, unfortunately. The one in Cumberland is on the list, though. Or is there another one I’m missing?

    Hi Laura,

    Could you please add Killaloe Farmer’s Market. Located on Highway 60, between Eganville & Barry’s Bay. Saturday mornings 9am – 1pm. Open June 17 – Thanksgiving. Live music, breakfast, lunch & snacks available. Also indoor flee market & farmhouse musuem on site.
