If you can make it from pine cones, wax or flannel—or repurposed cutlery, for that matter—you’ll probably find it at Adirondack Decorative Arts and Crafts, a sprawling gift and housewares store on the main drag of Lake Placid, New York. That makes it a great place to browse for knickknacks, linens and furniture for your rustic-style cottage or family room. You can also pick up treats like maple syrup and sweet potato butter.
When I visited a few months ago, I spotted everything from loon-patterned dishes to sculptures made from old forks. Many products are made by artisans from New York state, Ontario and Quebec. Here are a few photos to give you an idea of what you’ll find. (I was there in early January, which explains why some of the displays are a bit Christmas-sy.)

I travelled to Lake Placid as a guest of the Lake Placid Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism, which neither reviewed nor approved this post.
