I have lots of food news for you this week, with details on a new café, a new-to-Ottawa burger joint, a tropical afternoon tea and a Perth restaurant on the move. You’ll also find out where to reserve campsites in the Parks of the St. Lawrence and how to sign up for a Boston Marathon qualifying race in Cornwall (maybe to work off all those burgers and baked goods!).
St. Lawrence Marathon spots are going quickly

Interested in running the St. Lawrence Marathon in Cornwall on Saturday, April 26? You might want to register soon, as the half-marathon, 10K and 5K races are already sold out. As I write this in early March, almost 50 spots remain in the full marathon, which is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
Perth cafe is moving to a new location
The Twisted Fork Cafe and Bistro is leaving its location in downtown Perth at the end of March. It will open in new digs on the Perth campus of Algonquin College in April. This post on the café’s Facebook page has more details.
Embrun burger fave opens Ottawa location

For years, Pearson Street SmashBurgers ‘N’ Melts has operated a super-popular food truck in Embrun. This Saturday (March 8), they’ll be opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant on Cyrville Road in Ottawa—see this Facebook page for details.
Reservations are now open for Parks of the St. Lawrence campsites
If you’d like to camp along the St. Lawrence River this summer, hurry on over to the Parks of the St Lawrence website. As of today, campsite reservations are open.
You can enjoy tea in the tropics…in Carp

Aquatopia, a greenhouse and event venue in Carp, is hosting an event called Tea in the Tropics on Sunday, March 16. A few tickets are still left for the elegant-sounding afternoon, which will feature fancy sandwiches, festive desserts, snacks, tea and coffee at tables surrounded by lush tropical plants and burbling waterfalls. (Aquatopia is also hosting the same event on March 9, but tickets to that one are already sold out.)
New café opens on Canotek Road
If your road trips take you to Ottawa’s east end, here’s a tip from one of my readers: A new café called Cuppa Chico has opened at 5303 Canotek Road. I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, but the menu and photos online look delicious.
