OK, road-tripping music lovers, here’s some big news: the Ontario Festival of Small Halls has just announced its lineup for the 2017 festival (September 14 to October 1) and it is packed with great shows in communities across Eastern Ontario. As the name implies, many of these concerts take place in little venues—so they give you the chance to see artists up close, but they often sell out really quickly. So if you are keen to see any of these shows, get your tickets ASAP to avoid disappointment. Ticket sales start at 10am on Friday, June 9. (Click on the “lineup” link above to buy tickets.)
Here are just a few of the many roots, soul, bluegrass, pop and folk artists on this year’s roster.
- Ashley MacIsaac (playing in Maxville, Seeley’s Bay and Dacre)
- Jenn Grant (playing in Chaffey’s Lock, Dunvegan and Balderson)
- The Outside Track (playing in Spencerville, Delta and Maberly)
This festival is a great chance to combine a country drive with some excellent music. You could easily plan a weekend getaway around one of the shows. In Delta, for instance, you can tour the village’s historic mill and stay at the pretty Denaut Mansion Country Inn. And Balderson offers some fun food and furniture shopping.
