So last week’s quiz generated some decent traffic, even though I’m no longer giving away a prize. I’m going to take that as a sign that you’re still enjoying these Ottawa travel trivia games—so I’ll keep writing them.

As always, there’s a clue embedded in each of these 10 questions. I’ll update this post next week with the answers. Have fun!

Question #1: Eat and sleep in Carleton Place

What hotel in Carleton Place is home to the Smith and Barrel pub, where I enjoyed this yummy salad in pre-lockdown days, and where visitors can now dine on the pub patio and stay overnight in the hotel?

Question 2: An iconic music venue

What is the English name of this popular bar in Wakefield, Quebec, which normally stages multiple concerts a week?

Question 3: Stroll through a bog

What is the name of this bog in Ottawa’s east end, where you can stroll along a 1.2-kilometre boardwalk and look for plants typical of much more northern climates? (Cool fact: The bog even has its own microclimate.)

Question 4: When life gives you lemons, stage a play

What Southern Ontario city launched a theatre festival in the early 1950s to revive the local economy, after CN closed its railway repair shops there?

Question 6: Outdoor art

What is the name of this type of artwork? It is usually found on a particular type of farm building, and several places near Ottawa have developed driving routes you can follow to spot them. (I snapped this particular photo in Prince Edward County, where you’ll find more than 100 such artworks.)

Question 7: Fiddlers and dancers

What Ottawa Valley city, about 150 kilometres northwest of Ottawa, normally hosts the Old Time Fiddle and Step Dancing Championships every Labour Day weekend?

What is the name of this landmark building in Quebec City?

Question 9: Ottawa’s only biodome

In what Ottawa park’s community garden will you find the city’s only biodome, where keen gardeners grow veggies year round and where they’re building an aquaponics system to recycle wastewater? The park is also home to a restored pond, pictured above, where researchers have found painted turtles, muskie and other wildlife.

Question 10: Livestreamed tunes
